Lincoln Edition Improvements : The Quinter Estates
November 2014

The concrete street that is taking shape on Hackberry Drive in the Lincoln Edition in the City of Quinter is part of a housing project started about 3 years ago by the City of Quinter and Bainter Construction LLC. Due to an extraordinary housing shortage in Quinter, City Manager Ericka Nicholson reached out to Wes Bainter of Bainter Construction in the fall of 2012. Mr. Bainter had been building apartments and duplexes across western Kansas and Ericka wanted to see if Mr. Bainter's model would fit Quinter's needs. Bainter Construction located several vacant lots prime for residential developing, but he was concerned about the street that was gravel. He visited the Quinter City Council to see if something couldn't be done to pave Hackberry Drive. Ericka Nicholson wrote a grant to the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation in July of 2013, and on October 8, 2013 was notified that the grant application was funded in full. (Quinter received the maximum fund distribution of $400,000). Total project costs are estimated to be at approximately $565,000.

The funds from the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation will be used for the improved drainage and to concrete the street / curb and gutter along all of Hackberry Drive.

The Quinter Estates will begin construction immediately this fall when the street project is completed.
